Empress Lock Box
30” x 14” x 2”
Assemblage with gold leaf on wood box with fringe and found objects
I imagine this as a machine for writer’s block. I'm intrigued by old locks and gears, especially ones that are mysterious. This box looks like it has some mechanism waiting for a key. The box is covered in gold leaf and the pointy bits on the crown are made from typewriter parts I plated in 23k gold.
