I traveled to Africa many times and have had many surreal memories and wonderful impressions of the various places I visited. This painting was my attempt to understand the mysteries of the Namibian Post Colonial landscape. One of the last countries to be freed of Aparteid, Namibia struggles with who they are to be as a nation. They have miles of pristine Atlantic shorelines with little German villages on them, a Diamond Industry and a whole lot of Black African history buried underneath. This painting is about layers of human civilization all built on top of each other.
